Dear RIC Friends!
We are meeting for the eleventh time and for the second time in Lublin. This meeting is very important for us. We will be very glad to have you here as our guests.
On Friday, we have planned a Jewish Heritage Night in the Yeshiva Chachmei Lublin, once the largest Talmudic school in the world. The building has now been turned into a four-star hotel, the Ilan, where you will be staying.
On Saturday, we want to take you to the Zamoyski family museum in Kozłówka which is located in a picturesque park. Besides visiting the museum and the socialist realism gallery, you will join a party that will transport you to 17th century Poland with courtiers and soldiers (the dragoons). Especially for you, we have also prepared a unique selection of Polish cuisine which you will savour to the sound of a live band playing old Polish music. We will let the details be a surprise for now…
The gala dinner will take place in an exclusive restaurant owned by one of our Club colleagues. We will enjoy the best dishes the Polish cuisine has to offer. The highlight of the evening will be a performance by a folk song and dance group. We will learn a Polish dance, the polonaise, and we will be singing songs from every country of our RIC Friends.
We will do our best to make this weekend a truly unforgettable experience!
We are looking forward to our meeting in Lublin. We are waiting for you, dear RIC Friends!
President of Rotary Club Lublin

Therefore, we imagine that our Guests will arrive wearing something in red, such as:
Ladies: hats, scarves, stoles, belts, fans or fascinators,

- RC Nieuwkoop,
- RC Rotselaar,
- RC Lublin.
Andrzej also welcomed the Honorary Member of RC Lublin and the member of RC Alvesta in Sweden, Mr. Sigmund Lisecke with his wife Ing-Marie, the President of the Alvesta Inner Wheel.
Ad 3. Approval of the minutes of the previous RIC
The minutes of the RIC AGM 2014 Nieuwkoop (held in Amsterdam) were approved unanimously.
Ad 4. Election the new RIC Coordinator
Due to the resignation of Marc Loos, hitherto RIC Coordinator, the AGM unanimously elected Patrick Billiet from RC Rotselaar as new RIC Coordinator.
Ad 5. Annual reports of the Member Clubs
- HIGH SUFFOLK
Mike Bone greeted the participants on behalf of Brian Hull, the current RCHS President, excusing him for not being at the RIC.
RCHS now has 16 members and 2 honorary members. Recently the Club supported the Nepal Earthquake Victims by raising funds for 3 Shelter Boxes. Most of this money was raised on the day of the UK General Election, when members stood outside the local voting station, raising almost € 2000.
A year ago the Club underwent a „club visioning” exercise to give members a chance to explore the way they think the Club should develop in the future. Progress was „measured” this May to see what progress the Club has made. It was good to realise the RHCS long-time objectives are still on track.
Tilmann Schneider, the Club President, greeted all the participants.
The most important social project of RC Leipzig is the new rural clinic at Fotadrevo in Southern Madagascar. The clinic has been proposed by dr. Elson Randrianatenaina from Madagascar, who operates at that locality in a small clinic, which is to be expanded. RC Lepizig, together with the RC Leipzig Zentrum, organises the supply of clean drinking water and waste-water treatment facility. The expansion of this rural clinic has been organized and financed through the German NGO “Ärzte für Madagascar e. V.”, together with NGO “Wasser-ohne-Grenzen e.V”. The clinic has officially been opened a few weeks ago, with a completely new drinking water supply and functioning black water facilities.
- LE VESINET
Jean-Pierre Fiquet, the Club President-Elect, greeted all the participants.
At present RC Le Vesinet has 31 members. During the current Rotary Year the Club members realised various actions to get money for financing the social projects. The most important actions and events were as follows:
- Fund raising during the 15th Illusion Festival; net profit € 11.000, donation to Polio+ and to local association supporting the third world heart surgery,
- Fund raising during the 20th Wine and Food Products Fair; net profit € 15.000,
- Fund raising during the “Attic Sale” in Chatou, an exhibition of Rotary over the town; net profit € 5.500,
- Food bank collection: 6,5 tons of food, € 12.000 for heart surgery of Third-World children,
- Supporting the international social projects in Ivory Coast, Madagascar and Vietnam (school rehabilitation, help to care givers, clean water supplying systems etc.).
Jacek Baj, the Club President, greeted all the AGM participants.
For many years the Club has supported the Lublin Association for Disabled Children, as well as the local Foundation “To Accustom the Lot”, which also helps ill and disabled children.
In February the Club co-organised the Charity Ball to raise money for the Foundation. The net profit exceeded € 11.000.
Before Christmas, 2014, the Club members collected food, clothes and toys for children from poor or disfunctional families.
According to the sentence “Rotary makes dreams come true”, we bought a modern lap-top with rich software and gave it to Bartek, a boy who suffers of advanced cancer.
Henk van de Meent greeted all the participants and excused Marjo Hoogenbosch, the current Club President, for her absence (Marjo has broken a leg a couple of days before RIC).
The main Club’s fundraising was the 26th Jazz at the Plazz, near the lakeside of Nieuwkoop (approximately € 15.000). The money was spent for several goals. One of them was the project for disadvantaged youth at the Sport School in Knysna in South Africa. With the support of the global grant from the Rotary districts and Rotary Foundation, RC Nieuwkoop transferred to Knysna $ 38.000.
The project of RC Nieuwkoop is the financial support of “Sailability”, the association which helps handicapped people to sail. With this support, as well as with the donation of the other RIC Clubs made in 2014, the association got two new boats, specially adapted for the needs of handicapped sailors. On 2 May, 2015, the boats were given to the users. The boats are going to be called “RIC” and “Jazz”.
The Club President Johan Gordts greeted all the participants – on behalf of his “Aircraft Crew”. Johan showed a very original presentation, using some aircraft symbolics. Thus, he presented himself as the captain of an Airbus A 380, flying in “Rotary Airlines”. And the other members of the Club Board were shown as: co-pilot, flight instructors, flight engineers etc. The particular Clubs actions and events were being presented similarly to messages projected on airport desks.
In the passing Rotary Year RC Rotselaar organised fundraising money for the disabled persons (over € 3.000), supported palliative care and organised the RUN FOR LIFE (help for persons suffering of cancer). The Club organised also various events, e. g.: Moroccan Evening, New Year Evening, a game of Petanque. The Club also led the student exchange program.
Ad 6. Report of the joint social project of RIC 2014 by RC Nieuwkoop
The report was already presented by Henk van de Meent during reporting in item 5.
The AGM accepted Henk’s report unanimously.
Ad 7. Proposal of the joint social project of RIC 2015 by RC Lublin
Piotr Łopatyński presented the social project proposed by RC Lublin.
For many years, the Lublin Club has supported the Lublin Association for Disabled Children. In previous years, with the Matching Grant from Rotary International, as well as with the donation made by the RIC-Clubs, we bought a lot of special equipment helping the young patients in their rehabilitation. Now the most urgent need is a new small bus with special facilities for transporting disabled children. The RIC donation would be very helpful in financing this purchase.
The proposal was accepted by AGM unanimously.
Ad 8. Organising Club of RIC 2016
Patrick Supply, one of members of the brave Rotary Airbus crew, presented the general shape of RIC 2016 in Belgium.
Nowadays we dream – from time to time – about an ideal world, where all is simple, easy, fair and worthy. Therefore, we propose to come back to Utopia in 2016. RC Rotselaar assures, that the Rotary community can help it to become reality. The organisers also offer us:
- PIM (Participation, Integration, Mix),
- Friendship and networking,
- Learning from each other,
The proposed time of RIC 2016 in Leuven is: Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd May.
The above proposal was accepted unanimously.
Ad 9. Nomination of the hosting Club for RIC 2017
As the hosting Club organising the RIC 2017 was proposed RC Leipzig. Tilmann Schneider, the Club President, confirmed that the Club is ready to be the host.
AGM unanimously decided to nominate RC Leipzig as a hosting Club of RIC 2017.
Ad 10. Patrick Billiet: RIC Nieuwkoop, RIC rules, RIC future
Patrick Billiet, the RIC Coordinator, presented some reflections about the hitherto experiences concerning RIC, as well as some problems to be decided in the future (during next AGM). He underlined that after passing two full cycles (12 RIC meetings) it’s necessary to decide: what next? What have we to change in our rules?
In August, 2014, after ample discussion, the Club decided not to continue its participation at the RIC. It is sad news for us, but to be respected. We are thankful to our Dutch Friends for their presence over so many years. We want especially to express our thanks and appreciation to Henk van de Meent and Maap Blom-van de Meent, who were at all our RIC meetings.
Patrick reminded us of the conclusions after the RIC-poll done in spring 2014 and the discussions made then within the particular Clubs. As the results of that work, there are some items to be integrated in the RIC rules (after formal agreement of all Clubs during the coming Rotary year) and to be formalised at next AGM (2016 in Belgium):
- resignation of RC Nieuwkoop,
- decisions accepted during AGM 2013 Le Vesinet (a. o.: payment of € 1000, as donation for the joint social project, must be always done before RIC),
- decisions to be made as the conclusions after RIC-poll, concerning new member Club:
- official contact between RIC Member and the proposed Club,
- invited as a visitor by organising Club,
- visitor at RIC with at least 5 members,
- unanimous acceptation by the RIC Clubs.
We should dare to come to main conclusion:
go on for the 3th cycle WITH GUARANTEED SUPPORT OF ALL CLUBS

THE SOCIAL PROJECT
For the last 8 years, the Rotary Club of Lublin has been cooperating with The Association for Physically Disabled Children. The Association runs a very big rehabilitation centre, used each month by around 200 children, who have over 700 different, individual rehabilitation sessions.
The Centre employs professional physiotherapists and also uses the voluntary help of the patients’ family members. The patients are mostly children suffering from cerebral palsy, autism, muscular dystrophy and Down syndrome, as well as children injured in various accidents. Moreover, caregivers from the Association offer additional activities for young people from poor or pathological families.
The total value of the financial help, which the Association has received from the Rotarians so far, is approximately EUR 25,000, including the money paid by the RIC Clubs, the Rotary International and the RC Lublin.
The money served to purchase special rehabilitation equipment and accessories: stationary bicycles, electric treadmills, a laser probe, beds and tables for massages and rehabilitation trainings as well as physiotherapy apparatus. To all the devices we have fixed special plates with information about the RIC’s donation.
Currently, the most urgent need of the Association is a small bus adapted for transporting patients in wheel chairs. The RIC’s support would be very helpful in financing this purchase.
DEAR FRIENDS ROTARIANS,
THANK YOU FOR GETTING INVOLVED TO THIS SOCIAL PROJECT !
